Musical Directors

Rod Sgrignoli - Co-Director

Rod Sgrinoli has been singing and teaching others to barbershop since 1991. He is a 35-year member of the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS) and has nearly 25 years of service as a certified Musicality Judge for both the Barbershop Harmony Society and Harmony Incorporated.

He sang in several quartets from the Rocky Mountain District and served as assistant director, show producer and head of the visual team for Sound of the Rockies from 2003 until retiring to Florida in 2022. Prior to that he was active with and directed Boulder Timberliners for about 9 years and was a founding member and co-director of Colorado Chord Company. He has three district quartet silver medals and multiple district chorus and international bronze medals with Sound of the Rockies. He has earned medals for his work with a Region 8 SAI chorus from Colorado and served as the clinician for over a dozen youth festivals during his time in Colorado.

He has taught and coached at many district schools (e.g., RMD, CSD, MAD and EVG), Top Gun schools, Leadership Seminars and several Harmony Inc. conventions in addition to having served on the Society Board from 2007-2010.

In his professional career, he has multiple engineering degrees, worked for one of the largest gas and electric utilities in the US and served as Battleforce Navigator for an 11-ship carrier battlegroup during Operation Desert Storm.

He and his wife Paige (a gifted coach in her own right) now reside in Fort Myers, FL and have 3 adult children – Philip, Morgan and Kesney (with their first grand baby on the way).

He is thrilled to have the opportunity to co-direct the Coastal Voices chapter alongside Jeanne O'Connor and continue in their fine tradition of singing, learning, supporting community and creating a unique, special, fun place for singers to sing!!

Jeanne O'Connor - Co-Director

In her 60+ years with Harmony, Inc. (she truly was a mere child when she first joined), Jeanne has thrown herself, heart and soul, into every aspect of Harmony. More than the winningest director in the organization, she has won multiple quartet crowns, been a certified Performance Category judge, and served on the International Board of Directors – she was the International President from 1986-88, 2000-2002, and, 2012-2014 and steadied Harmony’s course for decades with unparalleled leadership skills. She, indeed, epitomizes the face of Harmony.

After 40 years as the Village Vocal Chords’ front-line director, Jeanne O’Connor retired and relocated to Naples, FL. She wasted no time jumping into becoming Assistant Director, Board Member, and Chapter President. Coastal Voices is genuinely blessed that Jeanne's journey led her to our little chorus in Florida.
